Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven (1845) is the most famous gothic poem in English — a grieving man, a midnight visitor, and one word that will not stop. The bird perches on a bust of Pallas Athena and answers every question the same way.
The design: the raven with its wings spread over the pallid bust of Pallas in a candlelit library, with "Quoth the Raven, 'Nevermore.'" and Poe's name beneath. Three key stanzas — the opening, the naming, and the finale — print in warm gold on the back.
